Took my 336 .35 to the range for the first time today. Definitely a keeper, shot just over 2" @ 100 with my eyes and open sights.

Only thing is, I got this mainly for my wife, and the recoil is a bit sharper than I'd though it would be with Green Box 200 gr. It's fine for me, but if she's not comfortable with the gun she won't like it. Pachmayr is coming out with a pre-fit Decellerator for the 336-- anybody had any experience with these pads for other Marlin guns? Do they really fit, or would I be better off just taking it to a gunsmith in the first place? Are these better or worse than the Limb Savers?

Thanks,

In the Open Sight section here at Beartooth, Marshall did quite a write up on the pre-fit decelerators.

Decellerator is a heck of a good recoil pad.... I'd never expect a perfect fit and would plan on a little sanding to match. To me, not a big deal.

I put the decelerator on my 450 guide gun and it went from a pain to shoot five to a joy to shoot all day. I, however recognize my limitations and not wanting to mess it up had my smith install the pachmayr decelerator at the same time he cut and recrowned the barrel removing the ports. Shoulder and hearing preserved all at one time.
