I am finishing my third of the four published books by early Africa hunter J.A. Hunter (available through Safari Press) and must recommend them highly. My favorite so far is "Tales of the African Frontier" because of the excellent history of Arab slave training and Christian missionary work that is included in the first half of the book. Many early Africa books are very pricey, but these at $24.95 are within reach of most of us. Good reading.

Hunter has a great gift of descriptive narrative. His stories come alive as you read them, and his attention to detail is rare.
I only have two of his books... I'll look at what Safari Press has to offer!
Thanks John.
God bless,

I have and enjoyed, enough to reread it now and then, his autobiography "Hunter". I will have to look for the others.

Thanks Sunday!
I LOVE to read old westerns and Africa tales durring the winter. I can throw lots of wood in the stove and pretend I am in someplace warm. (five layers of wool help with the fantasy)
Wearing that many layers, Scotty - I'd be in SERIOUS trouble getting to the bathroom in time. Good thing I live where even one layer gets kinda warm sometimes! :D
