When a revolver shoots both 22 mag and 22 lr why is it necessary for two cylinders? Why not 38/357 type set up? Are the bullets a slightly different diameter? They do go down the same barrel. This may be a stupid question but if you don't know you gotta ask. thanks fuz

The .22 mag cartridge is larger in diameter than the .22 LR.

Not obvious from the cartridge names, though.
