Finally found a new 444P.

I finally did it! I found a new 444P on line last night. Called the shop owner today and it is mine, well as soon as it arrives anyway. I can't wait to take it to the range. I guess I'll have to settle for factory ammo to start. Ranchdog,
if you read this, Thanks. I think you passed this one up. At least that is what the guy at the shop told me. If anyone is interested in a Marlin in 450 Marlin, ported barrel, this guy has one left, new in the box also I think.

Can anyone tell me what ammo would be best to start with. Keep in mind that I have never shot a big bore lever gun before so I really don't know what to expect.

Thanks,
Deuce

Deuce...

Glad you got one. I would just try any of the factory offerings. It will be a bit loud and the recoil isn't a problem. You have a great rifle

I bought one several months ago and have been having a ton of fun with it. You won't be sorry about your purchase.

The barrel ports are really loud. I am kicking around the idea of having the barrel shortened to eliminate the ports but haven't made a decision yet.

Whatever the case, I love the gun and it is on my "never sell" list.
