Ok guys I need some help here. I have had the gun out to the range several times. I am only using factory ammo, going to start reloading in the spring. I am using the Rem 405 gr core lock. With the factory irons on it I can pull of a 4 to 5 inch grouping at 100 meters. I have already ordered a Williams FP rear peep sight. I want to replace the front sight but I don't know what to go with. I want something that is fine enough for a 150 meter shot but still bright enought to hit the big buck in the wee hours of the moring in the deep woods.

Please help!!!!!!!!!

Why don't you stick with the factory bead? I have a similar gun, the 95 with the 22 inch barrel. I put on the Williams FP as well. With the factory bead, I find that the large target is almost covered at 200 meters (I don't have a 150 m range), which means that it will just nicely cover a buck's chest at 150 m. If it were any larger, then it would be too difficult to hold accurately at any further ranges.
Why not try the bead you have right now, once you get the Williams installed, and see how it works?

I was thinking of doing that, just to see how well it worked. The size maybe fine for the ranges I will be shooting at but the black color will be hard to pick out in the wee hours of the morning in the deep woods. Put I think I will give it a try.

Use the front sight that came with the gun, put some sight paint on it to make it brighter.
As far as reloading, I think that is a smart move, nothing like rolling your own. And you bullet choice is endless. Myself I use hard cast with gas checks.

If the factory bead dosn't work out you might want to look at a XS front post with a Williams rear sight. They work pretty good too.

The set up works just like the sights on an AR-15.

Also, have you thought about a scope, a Leupold 1X4X20mm or a 1.5X5X20mm. They are great and will give you the best sight for accuracy. It has added more time to my hunting by letting me see in the woods in darker conditions. I use to hunt with iron sights but deep in the woods I lost my ability to see my sights early and had to leave the woods only to find it was still light out side of the woods. In my opinion, for hunting, a scope is hard to beat. But that is just my opinion.

I went with the Williams Firesights. They are very bright and easy to pick up even in low light.

Well my SIR order arrived today, got my new Williams FP rear sight. I thought I would go back out to the range nice and early in the morning, about 15 to 20 mins before sun-up. I want to make a few 50 to 100 meter shot while it is still hard to see. If I can do it I will get the new williams firesight front.

What is the smallest size front sight you can get?
