Hey all just had the magazine tube on my 22" 1895 extended all the way out.. it now holds 7+1. I want to mount a flashlight and laser on it. I saw the wild west guns light mount but the thing I dont like about it is that it only clamps to the end of the barrel. I want something that I can slide forward or backwards across the entire length of the barrel. So i was wondering if maybe I could make my own tri-rail mount
Brainstormed ideas:
Basically I would make a clamp out of a piece of steel stock in a shape sort of like the one below so I could clamp it to both the barrel and magazine tube. Without the screw in the middle of course.

The clamp would have to be shape such that it would have to be fit exactly to .45-70 diameter barrel and mag tube. Then I could drill and tap screw holes on the bottom of it a
Then I could get pictainny raills welded on 3 sides of it.. one on either side, and one on the bottom. I'd probably make the rails only 3" in length
So when its done it would ook something like this:

that is a tri-rail mount for a mossberg 12gaue, and it clamps onto just the barrel. I want to make it so It can clamp onto the barrel and magazine tube of my 1895. The picatinny rails would be a little shorter than that probably 2-4" havent decided exactly yet. I dont want to make them too long just enough to fit any standard flashlight/laser adapter or tactical laser/light
Use picatinny blank stock and cut to length and have someone weld the rails neatly to the clamp piece on 3 sides
Touch up with cold blue for aluminum can be bought at gun stores/cabelas all most everywhere
Buy picatinny blanks like this one or similar to this

This homemade tri rail will allow me to slide it all the way to the end of the barrel and clamp it there or clamp it near the stock.. or anywhere in between
