Go with a 223, ammo is evrywhere and ALOT cheaper to shoot. The 223 with the right bullet will efectively kill anything the 6.8 will

My main purpose for buying an AR type rifle was home/presonal defense if things ever got too far out of hand. Something one would think might never happen but I also don't think I will ever get stranded in a vehicle in the middle of nowhere, but I keep a small, basic survival kit in each just in case. So, if things were to get ugly, which one do you think would be the easiest to scrounge a resupply of ammo for if you needed it, I'm putting my money on the 223.

I was at a gun store today and saw a good looking useD AR (don't remember the brand) in 6.8 something. I've barely heard of it so I had the sales rep show me a round. Is the 6.8 that much more than the 223? The round looks like it would be decent for deer at shorter ranges. I'm was told I could swap the upper for another caliber very easily. I do reload so getting ammo is easy. SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!!

I own both and the 6.8 is definitely a step up over the 223. I like the 6.8 a lot and it is my personal choice in the AR style rifles
