Is the 6.8 that much more than the 223? The round looks like it would be decent for deer at shorter ranges. I'm was told I could swap the upper for another caliber very easily. I do reload so getting ammo is easy. SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!!

My main purpose for buying an AR type rifle was home/presonal defense if things ever got too far out of hand. Something one would think might never happen but I also don't think I will ever get stranded in a vehicle in the middle of nowhere, but I keep a small, basic survival kit in each just in case.
