Hunting Adventures Worldwide - Jack Atcheson

This book by Jack Atcheson (Atcheson & Son's Hunting Consultants) is one of the best collection of hunting tales books I have ever read. Published in 1995 by Stoneydale Press, it is still available at http://www.atcheson.com/book_store.htm

The story of Jack O'Connor's last hunt is there and is very heartbending. The tale of Jim Carmichel's 16ft Crocodile is the funniest true hunting story I've ever read. This is one of the few books that had me anxious, as if I was there with Jack and the others, excited but fearful of what next was to happen. His son Keith has a chapter which he describes hunting the rain goats at Icy Bay. Keith and Jack surmise that Icy Bay was "a physical and mental ****". I can expertly agree, as I spent 3 weeks there last summer exactly where they were hunting. His description of the hunts in Alaska are dead on. This book is a must read for anyone who dreams of hunting Montana, Idaho, Alaska, Africa or other exotic destinations.

I give it 10 of 10.

Something of interest to you mule deer hunters is the two stories of the Zemljak 50" spread muleys taken by father and son. Great stories.

Jack tells you of his mix-ups with as much glee as he tells of his successes. There was a time when he mishandled his new 270 Winchester and watched fall off a cliff, breaking the stock, severing the scope mounts, shattering his scope, and bending the barrel...

From Montana to Alaska to Africa to Mongolia to Korea, where there was game to be hunted, Jack was there for the adventure.
