30 cal mold

R-10X:

I prefer to go heavy for caliber when possible. The RCBS 180-FNGC molds cast wheel weight alloy at about 192 grs. before gas check and lube. It works just fine in several 30 cal. rifles including 30WCF. I have found it to be very accurate from them all.

Rifleman10x,
I suggest that you try the Lyman#311041 mold. With a hunting alloy,it'll drop a bullet baround 173 grains.
I hunt with a custom paper patched bullet that had the core based on the #311041 bullet. The nose is identical
It is very effective on Whitetails.

What you have been told here is true and works in most of my rifles ! But i have a carbine that only likes bullets of 160grs or lighter ! In either cast or jacketed ! Go figure ! There is the round nosed lyman bullet that this barrel likes in cast not sure if it has a 291 number ! JAGG

I have had great results with the Lee 160 gn in my 30-30, cast great and shoots great to. I take a 380 brass and nose pour pure lead and follow with wheel weights mushrooms good and is a good one shot bullet.
