Hi, All:
I have a can of IMR Trail Boss powder sitting around, that I have had for two years, and have not tried it yet. I would like to load some midrange loads to use in a repo. 1858 Rem. New Army revolver, that I have a couple of .45 Colt R&D conversion cylinders for. I also have a Winchester 94-A Trapper Rifle, chambered in .45Colt, that I would like to try Trail Boss loads for. I have artheritis pretty bad in my fingers and wrists, and would like to try some mild loads in the revolver. Can anyone give me some info. on these loads?

Chubbo...I have been working my way through a can of it in my 38/357's
Seems to burn clean, plenty bulky so as not to double charge and and gives good groups out of my SP101 and also my Marlin. (oddly enough, the same loads out of my GP100 would keyhole a bit...more a bullet/bore issue there I believe...still playing with it)
Makes for some pretty good small game ammo. Pleasant to shoot.
I use Trailboss for my cowboy action loads. I've chronographed some and have found that in my guns it tends to produce velocities below what the charts say so I stick near or at maximum loads. Even then they tend to be quite mild to shoot.
Overall I really like it for CAS and plinking. It also works great in my .45-70s.
I use 5.5 grains in my .45 LC loads. For even lower recoil in .45 caliber not to mention saving a lot of powder, try the Cowboy .45 Special, which is drawn to the length of .45 ACP brass by Starline and sold through Adirondack Jacks Trading post. http://www.cowboy45special.com/
I shoot gunfighter style and have a weak hand due to an old football injury and the only way I can be on target is with low recoil loads like the 45 special. I use either 200 gr. RNFP or 230 RN bullets too, so there's no worry about knocking a target down.
Hi, All:
Thanks for the info on the Trail Boss loads.
Please excuse me for the delay in answering, but I have been in the very trying times of replacing my outdated computer.
Now to find time to reload some cartridges.
Again thanks.
