A friend of mine is dying from cancer, I've asked for prayers for him from you and you've blessed us. Now, what Bible verses would you talk to him about if you were in my shoes? A little update, my wife talked to him a while ago and came home and said she couldn't believe how upbeat Vern is. THAT is a blessing in itself. So, lets hear from you. Thanks for the update. I have quoted the following verse to Believers who are dying:

Psalm 73:23 Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. 24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. 25 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. 26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

It's a comfort for those who are saved to know that the Lord is always with them and that they soon will be received into his presense.

If a person is not saved, it can be used to show them what blessings await those who trust in the Lord.

Is the friend a Christian? If so John 14: 1-3. Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me. In my Fathers house are many mansions; If it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to Myself; that where I am , there you may be also!

Wallace, that's the tough part, NO, I've known him for 17yrs and never heard him mention God in a loveing way, I'm not qualifyed to judge him, you know what I mean, but from what I've seen over the years no, he's not a Christian. I did talk to him a little about God last night and, how lot's of us have been praying for him. Then, I dropped it for fear of turning him off. He did tell me he's slept better than he's slept in the past 2yrs and he feels better and has NO pain. That's some of our prayers being answered. Good work, keep it up. I know it is scary to talk to some people because you may expect them to outlash at you,but be bold, he is probably hoping that you will exactly do that. I suggest that you tell him that you do not want to go to his funeral and wonder where he will be for eternity. I would mention perhaps Acts 2:21, "Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." I also like to mention the story of the two robbers on their crosses next to Christ. One asks Jesus to remember him when he comes into his kingdom and Jesus assures him of salvation. It is a story of "it is never too late".

I hope to have this talk with my father-in-law soon myself. He has bladder cancer.

I believe that Jesus expects you to explain the plan of Salvation to your friend. I also believe that your friend will be receptive to and receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He needs to have the choice.

Certainly you both should want to see each other in the Life to Come. That is the great hope we have in Jesus.

My prayers are with you. Boldly go to your friend for this is the love of God that we share with a friend.
