I picked up a Remington 1903A3 today while I was making my rounds at the local pawn shops (I got a Ruger Red Label too

)
This one doesn't have the original stock, but I already ordered an unissued GI stock from Numrich, although I can't find the stock metal pieces anywhere.
I've already cleaned about 4 pounds of nasty greasy gunk from this rifle, but I need to get the rear sight off (its a Redfield peep) I thought it would be like the Williams on my Marlin, but I can't get the adjustment to move, so I'm seeking help with that.
What is desireable with these guns, my barrel is stamped 9-42 with the Ordnance flaming bomb proof mark, and a circle P. The receiver is stamped in many places with an R, and the bottom of the receiver has a bunch of proof marks, the serial number puts the DOM in December 1942. The stamped parts are perfect with a little surface rust and no bluing remaining. I think it was re-finished because I read that these were parkerized and not blued like the 1903's.
The bore is perfect with excellent rifling and no pitting. The barrel is mostly browned with a little blue remaining under the stock.
I was thinking about having the metal all media blasted to remove the rust and do Brownells' bake on finish in matte black or OD green.
