Question .30 carbine shoots high

Registered Users do not see the above ad.

I recently purchased an Auto Ordnance mil spec .30 cal M1 carbine. I've taken it to the range and tested it at 50 and 100 yards. It shot high using the folding "L" shaped peep sight. I replaced that sight with an adjustable rear sight I purchased from Numrich Arms. I've lowered the rear sight as much as I can, but at 100 yards it still shoots high.

Any suggestions as to what could be done to bring the point of bullet impact down? Taller front sight? Would a gunsmith be able to help resolve this problem? Thanks for your input.

I assume you are using 110 grain M1 Carbine ammo? How high is it shooting? Is it grouping well (say, 4" at 100 yards or better)?

This can be caused by the gas system if it isn't properly fixed or if the stock is bearing on it. Check clearances to the wood. Call Auto-ordnance and describe the problem. They will have seen it before and can probably offer suggestions or offer to fix it.
