The future of Hunting

Sometimes, we forget how much fun just hunting and just being in camp can be. I was reminded of that fact this week-end at the ol' hunting lease.
Here's a picture of Mason (Kdub jr), Jacob ( MikeG Jr) and Alex (TCV jr) admiring Mason's first deer kill. A nice young doe is just the thing to get the week-end hunt started. Argueing over who gets the next shot with the BB gun, who can put the most leaves on the fire, or who can outrun the dog, are just icing on the cake. Thanks to Ken, Mike, Clay, and a few other friends, it was a great week-end, and one that these young hunters won't forget...ever!

One of the bowhunters shot a nice ten point that was just a little bit bigger.

Great pics Tom,

Glad to see the kids and their first deer. We hunted 3 days down at our lease and ended the season with a perfect record. Not one deer seen the entire season. The kids learned a lesson in patience and we still had a great time. Playing "kick the can" around the fire, sitting by a pond on a moon light night waiting to see if any hogs would come in for adventure (can be a little scary after watching African lion shows), and just being outdoors. The boys commented that even though we didn't get anything this year, they sure felt sorry for the boys who's dad's never took them outdoors. A pretty good year I would say..

Yup, I've had to explain patience to my son. If we always got a deer it would be shopping, not hunting!!! :D

Great time and he sure slept good last night.

See ya next time.

Just blew in from the looooong drive from Dallas. Still have to unpack the truck.

That's MikeG's son, Jacob on the left, my grandson, Mason in the middle and TVP's grandson, Alex on the right.

Those boys had a great time and all enjoyed being out with their dads in the blinds. Mason (my grandson) is sure proud of his first deer. A little disappointed we didn't see any turkey or hogs or coyotes, but still thinks hunting is great.

Tom didn't mention the dog had to go hide in the field to rest after playing with 3 rambunctious boys, or that the single malt scotch went down smoothly around the big campfire. :p
