We had another enjoyable hog hunt in Georgia this past long weekened. Four of us took two boars. My friend took a nice big boar (260+) and I took a decent one of about 150. All in all we had a great time and are already planning on hunt #4 to the same place next year. Here's a couple pictures of the big Boar my Buddy got.

Thanks, my Buddy took his at about 65 yds using a Browning X-Bolt in .308 shooting 165gr Fusions. He shot it just under the right ear. I took mine at 125 yds with a Ruger Hawkeye SS in .358 Win shooting 250gr Grand Slams. I shot mine about 6-8" back of the ear, base of the neck. Both hogs dropped in their tracks. My Buddy was on his first hog hunt ever and was very impressed with the thick shield on his.

I think you have the right combo. A .308 works but your .358 works real good. If your friend has the $$$ he might end up with "more gun."

I would not have been surprised to see some penetration problems for him with a shot to the shoulder/shield area after we caped him out and saw just how heavy the shield was. He was definitely impressed. I learned my lesson after having to shoot a really big Boar five times a few years ago.

What general area of Georgia are you hunting? I hunt in Chatham County (Savannah) and last week one of our group shot a boar hog that scaled out at 350 pounds. The boar had been "Clipped" several years ago and the "Experts" say that with that done they are beter eating. That is the largest hog taken on our property which has an abundent supply of hogs. Two weeks ago we trapped two sows tht weighed 200 and 230 pounds. It is incredible the damage a group of routing hogs can do to a field in one evening

We are hunting outside Wrightsville, Johnson County, I believe. We have taken two hogs even larger in previous hunts, one the biggest the outfitter has ever had shot there from what they've told us. We also hunted the Waynesboro area about five years ago and they had some big hogs there as well. Seems to be a good number of hogs in the area and they seem to be getting more and more nocturnal as well.

Nice pigs. That's something I want to try.

Every time I see one of those 250+ pound hogs/boars with the six inch tusks I think to myself that you really can't have too big of a semi-auto rifle/shotgun.
