Exclamation Tanning small game???....how?

Registered Users do not see the above ad.

After reading Warpig's article about him and his buddies antics with tanning skunk hides it has made me curious.

I am a great conserver whenever I shoot a squirrel I dont like to let anything go to wast, I feel bad for just chucking the skin in the woods.

Anyhow can anyone tell me the material I'll need to preserve and make small game skins soft and foldable not stiff and hard. What the cost will be to do it. And maybe a tutorial on how I can do it if you dont mind sharing

I would really like to start seeing squirrel and rabbit skins on my wall! Plus I am planning to make a coyote skin quiver if anyone can teach me how to tan small game hides

TIA,

Humble

OOO, ya how long can you leave the skin on before the meat ruins in normal tempature 70 F. or so. Can you leave it on, can you just field dress it then carry the squirrel with skin still on iT???

tanning hides

I send hides out to have them tanned. They come back better than you will ever get them at home.Skunks and squirrels cost less than $9.00 each.

You can get tanning solutions from Cabela's or any taxidermy or trapping supply catalogs.
