Bear Proof storage boxes

I need some info from you bear country folks. My Colorado hunt this year will be in the middle of bear country. I need some bear proof storage boxes to keep food and trash in. I hate to pay a fortune for commercial type equipment. What do use to bear proof your camp?

I always use a long rope tied between two trees. With another rope put everything in a bag and haul it up about 15 feet. I never had a problem even in Alaska.Q

Lot's of rope and haul it up the nearest big trees. Of course, if you're above treeline or in an arctic environment...

Just make sure it's a ways away from camp and no food, dishes or cooking gear near or in tents.

Funny thing was, I saw a pair of tents in one of the camp spots on the Denali Highway last weekend, with one of those portable electric bear fences around it. Silyy looking thing about knee high, but rumor has it they work.

I'd hate to forget about it if I had to wake up and go for a "midnight stroll" at about 3AM.

Any bear proof box MUST be steel. Plastic is just a game to a black bear, and to grizz plastic doesn't exist.

If you can burn your trash, better than storing it, after one day the smell will bring any bear in 4 miles to visit you.
