Was wondering if anyone might have a suggestion on filling in deep gouges and dents on the exterior of rifle and pistol barrels. I have a couple of older pistols and rifles that have been roughed up pretty bad over the years and would really like to smooth off the damage and restore the surfaces to near original if it is possible in the hope of refinishing them.

Short of draw-filing, I have no idea how to remove pits and scratches from the outside of barrels. Anything you fill them with will looked blotched when reblued.
