.44 spl fans

Hi all im not new i used to be Hard Cast. Are their any 44 spl fans here? Ive run the gamit from 357's to 500's and my hands show it. A 250 wfn at 1200 does it for me.

I carried a .44 Spcl for many a year before switching over to a HK USPC .45. My favorite of the two I had is the S&W stainless .44 special. I think it is the 696??? It has been about 8 years since I carried it and shot it but it is a fantastic pistol, very accurate and very mild recoil, even with the heavier loads. Its only drawback is also one of the best things about it. It is based on the K or the L frame, I think K, so it only holds 5 rounds but it is small enough to carry fairly easily and packs a pretty good punch. Even though I have switched over to the .45 ACP for CCW that little S&W .44 Spcl. is not going anywhere.

True believers own at least three .44 Specials (shooting Specials in a magnum does not count). Some of full faith own seven.

I have a S&W 696. As previously noted, very accurate, handy size. Possibly my favorite handgun ever.

I have an S&W 696 too. It's my favorite carry gun even though I can carry a Semi Auto on my CCW. It's a really nice little gun and fun to shoot.

My carry gun is an original Charter Arms Bulldog 44. I am eagerly waiting for one of the new Rugers in 44 Special - I'm next to get one at my local dealer! I do not own a 44 Mangle'um. I think that puts me in the ranks of 44 Special lovers.

0.429" is a waste of material Rocky. Make mine a 41 Special.

Ive had many 44 Specials over the years. Currently thinking of getting a repo Winchester 1873 or 1866 with an 1872 Open Top to go with it.

I guess I don't count but I shoot a lot of 44 sp out of my 44 mag revolvers and rifles. I just like the shorter profile of the cartridge. I like loading the 44 sp moderately warm more than down loading the 44 mag for less recoil and more pleasant shooting. I figure with the 44 mag I get the best of both worlds. I would still like to have one of the Ruger 44 specials though.

Cheezywan is correct: all the Specials are ... special!

The only Manglum anything I own are a couple 357 revolvers, and that's because they only made them in that chambering. No other handguns or rifles in any Manglum chambering at all.

I have a Colt SAA clone in .44 special and love it. Easy shooting but potent enough for anything I need it to do!

Would you settle for a .41 Magnum on the small .357 Blackhawk frame. There is enough metal in the cylinder to handle any full power .41 mag load and the non-reloader has a wealth of full power loads available - all for a measly .019" of cylinder thickness!

Send those letters, telegrams, pony express notes, etc. to Ruger as fast as you ink dries!

Hi all:
I signed up just to reply to this post, I absolutely love the ole, classic 44spl.
So much so that I recently made 2, 44 spl. saddle ring carbines from single shot shotguns to compliment my S&W 624. May that grand old ctg. live forever!! I load 17gr of Lil-Gun under a 250gr WFN, and it works great in both my 624 and the carbine.
My appologies if it is not ok to post pics, and by all means, please feel free to delete them.
Safe & Happy shooting to all!!!

Pics are fine - and that's a cute little booger!

Tell us more about that rear sight. Is that a tube functioning like an aperture sight but farther forward?
