Registered Users do not see the above ad.

Hi Guys,
Moving and can't reload at the moment. Has anyone used the new HSM Bear Loads in . 357 or .44 Mag or .45 Colt?

Thanks
Casey in Alaska

I've used HSM stuff in several different chamberings, including some fairly hot .444 & 45-70 and also some .375 Win. They used to be the company that loaded the fine Speer Grand Slam bullets, which I bought in several different chanberings, but now that's BVAC ammo. A lot of theirs is now sold at Cheaper than Dirt including some hot 45-70s.

Here's a link to HSM's brand new catalogue:

I've used HSM match ammo in a pinch (had no handloads for an unplanned need) and have had no complaints. Champion's Choice had it at Camp Perry and still sell it through their catalog. They told me their customers had all been positive about it. They don't carry the loads the OP is interested in— just target ammunition—but the fact someone catering to competitive target shooters finds HSM's quality up to that task is a good sign.

There you go. Looks like HSM wants to horn in on some of Randy Garrett's market.

Finally got some HSM Bear Loads in .45 Colt. The Chrono shows 1030 fps avg from my 5.5" BlackHawk. My ballistics program in my iPhone says that will only drop to 912 fps at 100 yds, where it will be 9 inches low.
At 200 yds I am at 826 fps ( about the same as a .45 ACP but with a 325 gr bullet !) and 58 inches low!

These are pretty acceptable numbers for me.

PS: Did you all see the bear killed in self defense in Portage Alaska from the guys duck blind??
