Question Value of a 1969 Colt 45 lightweight

Registered Users do not see the above ad.

I was wondering if my Colt is of greater value due to it's being from the first year of production of the lightweight. I am aware that most of the info out there says the lightweight was first produced in 1970 but was told by Colt that based on the serial # it is a 1969 Colt Commander Lightweight. Serial # puts it as being in the first 5,000 produced. Any info would be a big help. Thankya

Your question is a bit of a collector's speciality. You may get a better answer in this forum.

The Lightweight Commander was introduced in 1949. The steel-framed Combat Commander came along in the early 70s...but I'm pretty sure it wasn't as early as 1970. Maybe '71 or '72.

If your LW Commander is pristine, but fired, it's probably worth about 750-800 bucks. Unfired/ANIB and you can up that to about 950 or so. Earlier than 1968, and it's about a 12-1500 dollar pistol if unfired and minty.
