Thumbs up Dillon Rocks

Hi,
I was using my Dillon 550 after a long lay off (last reloading notes were 1997) in the last 3 weeks I called them about 4 times for help, with dumb stuff like I lost my little pins that holed the brass, can I buy new ones they asked how old were the pins because Dillon shows me as a new account that only bought 30 carbine shell plate stuff,so I tell the nice guy on the phone no I bought a 550 press about 1982 and was into reload big time (about 10 cal's)until about 1997 when I got hurt he said oh we will mail for free the pins
or like my power dies are rusty and don't work well how can I get it cleaned up to work they said we will mail you a new one
and what is the best lube for this or that (they said use like car motor oil,I went with 0-20 Mobile 1 hehe)

today I asked Dillon if there was some thing wrong with the old 550 because I had to wiggle the cases to get them into the dies and the Dillon Rep was very help in the things to check and when I told him I had check he was like no biggy we'll send you this thing that sets the alinement up
as he is talking I'm thinking oh I did this to my press taking to apart to clean and install an upgrade part

what a nice company and they have been like that for many years

Rick

My experience with Dillon as well. I use my 550 for just about everything. A Co-Ax for small lot load development, then on to the 550.

For 308, I use Forester/Bonanza BR dies. I do cheat a bit and size them in the Co-Ax, because I like to run them thru the tumbler again to get the lube off.

I shoot he 308 in HP competition to 1000 yards at Camp Perry. I once loaded 100 rounds with the Dillon and another 100 with the Co-Ax and checked for runout.

Gotta confess that the Co-Ax beat the Dillon with 51 rounds at .001 or less, whereas the Dillon produced 49 rounds of .001 or less. The rest fell in about the same degree of RO.

Not a bad deal. I was loading for my junior rifle team as well...close to 70 rounds a month and twice that for Camp Perry.

I know that the 550 doesn't like stick powders, so I stick to Ball powder (2520 in 308) and the VihtaVouri powders.

I bought the 550 in '86 with the intent of taking advantage of Dillon's 30 day return policy. Got the motorized case trimmer as well. Sold the trimmer to a friend for what I had in it ($99) after 20 years of Service Rifle use.

A lot of folks don't like Dillon's BS advertising (nice girlie pix!!), but their Customer Service is First Rate. My 550 has been upgraded for free several times.

I started with a Dillon 550B and over 4.5 yrs ran over 70K rds through it (mostly pistol). During that time I had a number of questions and they were always helpful and promptly sent me stuff when I did something stupid and broke something. Because of my great experiences with them, in 2004, when I decided I wanted a casefeeder to load necked rifle calibers too, I naturally decided to upgrade to a Dillon XL650 with casefeeder.

Over the years with it they have also been very helpful with any questions I've had on my XL650 too. I guess great customer service is good business because if I'm a normal result, their help has made a loyal and enthusiastic customer. Further, it's encouraged me to buy their equipment to expand my handloading (now to 10 calibers) as you can see below. I'd definitely recommend Dillon equipment to anyone for any purpose, period.

I bought my Dillon 550B in the mid 1990s and it has performed flawlessly. I've also had to call them a couple of times with questions and was always treated with patience and a genuine desire to help. They ARE tops.
