Curious if anybody here had loaded this cartridge with the 220 GR RN Hornady Interlocks (#9030). I ask because I am unable to find load data for it. I know that the Retumbo will be a superior powder than all other available to me, but the only 220 GR bullet I see load data for is the Nosler Partition.

If nobody has load data for the Hornady Interlock, can somebody let me know that the 'base to crimp' length is if you have one to measure? Based off of that, I should be able to find a starting point. I'm afraid that the Interlock and the Nosler are too different to share loads, though this may not be the case.

I'd rather be safe than sorry. Some of you know that I like to have all the information before I try something, especially with reloading.

Hornady starts out with 80.5gr's for 2600fps with that bullet. They list 96.1gr's as Maximum; for 3000fps. I've shot Retumbo in the 7mm RUM and it likes the starting loads better than the maximum loads. You might really enjoy a web site called LoadData; I subscribe to it. It's less than the price of one reloading manual. I found your information in about 2 minutes and other loads are there also. Good Luck

Neither of my 300 RUM's like Retumbo. Although I can get the highest velocity with it , the groups look like a shotgun pattern. I've gone to either IMR7828 or H4831ssc.

Whats the story with H870? Was it discontinued?

Any experiences with H1000? I have a pound of it along with a pound of Retumbo.

Anybody here load those 145 grain tracer rounds in 300 RUM? Any good reason (as for firearm longevety) not to?

H870 is no longer available, instead Hodgons came out with US869. You can't use it charge for charge like H870 so there must be a difference. I've got a pound of it but haven't used it yet.

H1000 works pretty well with lighter bullets like 165's in my 300. I haven't tried with 180's or above yet.

Well, I have some loads with the 220's, I plan on getting some 200gr Triple X's, I'll let you know what I come up with using H1000.
