A quick wipe with a Bounce dryer sheet both inside and out. Also works for plastic powder funnels. Don't rub, just a wipe.

Cheers

That's a good idea. I've been having a devil of a time with static here lately. Only about 1/2 of a 25 grain charge makes it into the case without hanging up in the funnel.

You can also use computer monitor anti-stat cleaner or spray it with clothing anti-stat. The dryer sheets are easiest to lay your hands on, but if you don't like their scent, the computer products are there. After the treatment, whichever you use, before you put your powder back, get a bottle of powdered graphite and put it in the hopper and shake it up to coat the hopper, then run it through the measure. It has both antiistatic and lubricating properties.

If these don't do it for you, look at the Are You Baffled thread in the Hanloading Equipment forum. Download the PDF file and make a baffle for your hopper from aluminum flashing metal as described. You can run a strip of foil down the insdide of the hopper to contact the baffle and the measure and overhang it an inch or two outside the top of the hopper. Use tape to protect it from the lid opening and closing. Go to Radio Shack and buy a grounding wrist strap. These are used for soldering static sensitive electronic devices. Put the wrist strap around the top of the baffle so it contacts the overhanging foil strip. Ground the wire from the wrist strap to earth ground. Extend the wire if you need to so you reach an earth ground.

The wrist strap adds resistance to bleed static charge off rather than discharge it abruptly, as it could if you ground the foil directly. This prevents static sparks, which are generally considered undesirable around gunpowder. You can still get a spark if you are charged and touch the foil, so it is not a bad plan to get a second grounding wrist strap to wear while you are reloading. If it gets in the way of your hands, you can put it on your ankle.

An aluminum pan and funnel are the best fix. The PACT plastic pan is bad for static cling and their suggestion to wash it with detergent doesn't work. I bought a Lyman combo pan and funnel and it was worse. William Iorg suggested rubbing it down with graphite and that worked. 4350 clung before the graphite treatment, 700-X flowed like water afterwards. Thanks again, Slim.

Bye

Wipe a SMALL amount of detergent on the outside of the plastic. That will kill any static.

Wash in mild dishwashing detergent and DO NOT RINSE. Allow to air dry. It seems to work so far for me.

Wipe with window cleaner. Make sure it's dry before using.
