His first P-dog

Been taking my grandson out shooting everytime he comes to visit. Last year took him on his first prairiedog shoot. We were hunting in the Badlands of North Dakota where I've hunted since a kid and was living there at that time. Have since moved to Idaho. He was pretty excited to say the least. Spent some time at the range with him so that he could get to know my 1885 Winchester .223 alot better. All that practice paid off. Along with some friends of mine we headed to the Badlands to one of our favorite spots. On his second shot he nailed his first pdog. That day he made several shots over two hundred yards. Not sure if it was more of a thrill for him or me. He also got to shoot my friends RRA .223, which he also enjoyed very much. Always look forward to his visits and time spent out in the field.

Love stories and pictures like that!

Congrats to the young fella for his trophy and to yourself for training another future hunter.

Hey Shawn and Kdub, thanks for the comments. No thats not me. Wish I'd held up that well. The young instructor there, was my friend Russ's son Dave. I'm not a AR shooter. Dave is off next week to Afghanistan to serve our country. His mission is to disarm IED's. May God be with him on this mission.

grandkids

My grand kids are a bit older,19& 16yearsold.They both shoot very well and love the outdoors.

My son has a house in Ennis Montana and spends most of the summer there.Went down last weekend to see him and my grandkids. They were getting antsy and wanted to go shooting ground squirrels.I went out to my rig and gave them my Ruger 204 and a couple hundred cartridges. They wanted me to go with them but I declined.
Came back a couple of hours later full of grins, and some empty brass. They both said it was a tack driver.Guess I know what to buy them for their birthdays next month.
It is neat to see the lessons I gave them turned out so well.
