This my buddy's son named Austin. He shot this beauty of a buck in Texas at a Game Ranch. A genuine trophy buck.
Axis deer originate from India and Ceylon but they're thriving across the southern tier of USA. Also doing well in South Africa. Their antlers are quite long and wide, very impressive indeed. Suprisingly, a hunt for axis is affordable; about half the cost of a Wyoming mule deer hunt.

DETAILS: Austin hunted with a Marlin 30-30 Spikehorn model for Youth. Scope is an older Weaver 2.5X. Ammo used was Winchester Power Point 150 grain. One shot through the chest at about 125 yards toppled this handsome buck.

Great deer! Nice, proud smile on the youngster too.
TR, you still back east with us?
Happy Thanksgiving.
