Marlin 336RC .35 REM (1957)

I just got a Marlin 336RC in .35 REM from my grandfather for $150. I checked the letter in the serial number (P22XXX) and Wikipedia said that it was manufactured in 1957. I was wondering if anyone had any information on this Gun or a link to a site with information. It is in Great shape and looks like it has rarely been used. How much would this gun be worth on the market? Thanks All.

In good shape around here one sells for about $200.00-$250.00. In other areas it could be quite a bit more or less. The reason for the low value is the initial low cost of the Marlins and the fact that the .35 rem is not a popular cartridge in most parts of the country and can be hard to find in some areas. In reality the 336-.35Rem is one of the best choices you can make for a woods gun, they tend to be very accurate, the cartridge is effective, easy shooting and can be handloaded to even better balistics. Out of all my guns, that is the gun I grab the most for hunting in the eastern mountains.

You have a fine rifle in a chambering that would command a premium in these parts. If it's in excellent condition, a $300 asking price would not be at all out of line and, in fact, would probably bring a quick sale.

According to the blue book, $250 in 95% condition. from models 53'-62' + 10%. Thats for a 336a, there was also a 336adl that is worth more, identifiable by a monte carlo butstock and better checkering.

Any way you slice it, Grandfather deserves a big hug around the neck! And out of respect, never sell it.

I have a 336RC in 35 Rem that dates to 1961. These are HIGHLY sought after rifles, as is any straight gripped Marlin in 35 Rem.

Surely you would never sell grandpa's rifle? But if it's in good shape it's worth about triple what you gave for it.
