There were exctractor breakages and some trivial other

problems....I would think these problems are now long gone

away.

The purpose of my question was to try and figure out an approximate

point (by serial numbers) when Mossberg got a handle on their early

production problems.


Users who have had NO PROBLEMS might post their serial numbers

like "LA014XXXX". This would indicate an obvious positive indicator.

A serial number like "LA002XXXX" might show no fixes yet......




With production shut down on 336s and 94s the 464 might fill a need,

but buyers haven't been kept informed about Mossberg's early problems.

I for one am dying to try one out but have been fetered a little by the possible early production problems. I am simply waiting for some way of ensuring that the one I order is a "fresh" one.

I suppose a step in the right direction might would be to have a dealer/distributor search for the highest serial number in stock and order that one

I picked one up. It is a LA014XXXX

It will sadly be a while before I can seriously try her out.

Before this gets locked I wanted to quickly add that I easily got mine hitting the orange sticker at 85 yards no problem this weekend (6 o'clock method). The gun came shooting to the right but turning the windage screw to the left was a snap.

The action is smooth enough and all shells were easily extracted and ejected clear of the gun.

Its a real hoot of a gun to carry and shoot when tired of big noise, sore shoulders, long barrels and heavy scopes.

I even bagged a woodchuck with it and am still grinning about it. I was using the standard green box Remington 150's.

I clearly belong in the category of those who have one and like it.

I am seriously thinking of buying one. I think this thread just needs a lot of time...

Thanks to GrapeNuts we now know Mossberg actually has produced serial
number LA014XXXX.

It would be reasonable that any flaws would be corrected by a number that
high.
