I have a mint unfired Savage 99R in .300S. It was made in 1951, #61698X, lever boss code C. It is D&Td for tang sight and scope bases (6 holes). I can see no marks or white metal to indicate the scope D&T was after market. Were 1951 models D&Td at the factory for scope bases?

Someone else gave me my answer. In 1950 on the 99R, Savage moved the logo from the top of the barrel ring to the front left side as to not interfere with the D&T on top of the barrel ring.
