190gr 30-30 hand loads?

Any of you guys load the 30-30 win with these ?

John Kort aka "Jack Christian" I believe has shot this weight cast bullet extensively in his Mod. 94, at long range. He is here and also posts on Paco Kelly's Leverguns board. www.hawkbullets.com has bullets. Pricey
www.buffalobore.com has loaded ammo. Way pricey
I read a article alot of years ago about some old phart that lived up north somewhere that used 190gr. pulled bullets from a 303 Savage,I think, for larger game.
When you find load data for these, please share.

RCBS #30-180-FN die will give you 190 grain bullets using wheel weights. I know shooters who have used 4350, 4064 or 3031 for powder. Accuracy seems to be 2" or slightly under at 100 yards depending on your rifle and what load you are using. Never tried it myself so I make no load recommendation, I'm happy with the 150 in my 30-30 and 170 in my 32 Win Spcl.

I use the RCBS 30-180 FN which, as pointed out, run close to 190. Naked mine weigh 188 grains. John put me onto H-414 and I've been happy ever since. The same load of 35 grains have given me the best accuracy and velocity in two Marlins and one Winchester.

Just seen that Buffalo Bore offers 190gr for 60.00 a box.

Would the 190gr bullet do anything a 170gr PT wouldn't do? Just wondering, as I am sure they are both awesome, but I would think the 170gr PT would handle about anything you would want to tackle with a 30-30. I just bought my first 30-30 so I am looking forward to trying some different things out in it. Scotty

Go to Buffalo Bore and look what they say about the 190gr 30-30 load.

Might be fun. As far as hunting with one I've always had extremely good luck with the factory 170's. How dead is dead!
