I have been looking at the Marlin MXLR stainless laminate lever in .308 and .338 Marlin Express. If anyone has any experience with these cartridges I would like your input,as I am considering getting one...........

You will have no trouble generating a discussion about these cartridges on the forum. Good search engine too so search around a bit.
My 308 Marlin Express is a blued 22” barrel rifle. This rifle is capable of 3 shot sub 1” groups - if every thing goes right - at 100-yards using factory ammunition. I have done nothing to my rifle after the first cleaning. As a Handloader I will ay it takes effort to equal the accuracy of Hornady factory ammunition. The LeveRevolution bullet kills deer very well from factory and Handloads.
Follow the link below and start at the back. There is some 308 ME load data compared with the 307 Winchester. Note that I was shooting the cartridge prior to Hornady having releaed pressure teted load data and I ended up having to back off to get down to pressure tested load data. Still a fine little cartridge and an excellent deer rifle.

There are some issues with Reciever barrel fit lately , so please check out Marlin owners forum .
If you can get a proper fitting rifle , then I think you will be pleased.

I own a .308MX and a friend has a .338MX. We are both very pleased with the rifles. Both are accurate and apparently were manufactured before the rash of receiver to barrel issues plaguing some owners now. Given the choice, I'd rather have the .338 as a big fan of mediums, but the price on my unfired .308 was simply too good to pass up. I have not shot any game with mine as yet, but my Buddy's .338 showed excellent performance in his one shot harvest of a Maine bear. For me, the shorter 22" barreled MX holds more appeal, but the MXLR SS/Lam version is a very handsome rifle to my eye.

If you do not handload, the .308 version has more of an ammo selection with the original 160gr FTX plus a new 150gr Remington load and another 140gr tipped, lead-free load about to be released.

I better wait until they get the barrel thing ironed out, but I think it's gonna be the .338 ME MLXR 24" bbl thanks for the input gentlemen...........
