I have a winchester model 88 in .308 pre 64 with no clip I found one at a local gun shop however it would not fit properly a bit sloppy and did not lock into place are the pre 64 clips differant and where could I find one.

Pre and Post should be the same. Wisner's is the manufacturer, but Brownells sells them also.

If you locate them, do yourself a favor and buy a couple. Items like that are typically made in limited quantities, once in a while.

The clips did change at some point, but either should still work, best I know. Just so you know, a clip from a M100 will also work in a M88 (and vice-versa). But, if you use a M88 clip in a M100, it will not lock the bolt rearward.

My experience with this..don't buy a clip for your 88 without filling it, inserting it, and cycling through some rounds. If it stays in, and everything works as it should, then buy it. My pre-64, .308 Model 88 will not work properly with the clips that have a boxier appearance to them. Good luck.
