DNS = Domain Name Service
That's what translates between the names we use to refer to webistes (like "shootersforum.com"), and the numbers computers use to refer to them (like 192.168.0.0).
Your computer stores a cross-refernce list, which it gets from systems on the net hose job it is to keep the 'master list' cross-reference. You can force your machine to go ask the master list machines for an address by removing your machine's cross-reference.
