I've got a Marlin .45-70 lever gun (I think it's an 1896 model if I remember right) that I was wanting to see what would be the best ammo to shoot out of it. I don't currently reload (need to get back into it though), so what kind of factory ammo do you all recommend? I've shot the Hornady Lever Revolution stuff in .444 Marlin with good results. Is this stuff comperable in the .45-70 Govt, or is there a better load? I'm going to be using it on deer in KY (and anything else that I see that needs killin' ).
Thanks in advance!

The federal 300 grainers were the most accurate factory ammo in mine. The LeverRevolution stuff was pretty decent. If you plan on saving the brass for reloading, pass up on the Hornady ammo. Their cases are shorter than standard .45-70 brass.
