Folks, please help...
I own an 1894 octagon chambered in 44mag. From what I can find in my online research, these rifles were made in ~1973 based on the starting s/n of 27...
The problem I have is mine has a starting s/n of 24 which should put it 1976???
The barrel is not stamped 1894 Cowboy like I've read about some, but is stamped "1894 Octagon". High grade maple with no checkering.
Can someone please give me some info/insight into this model details and market value?

I have one. It predates the Cowboy crap. 730015XX

Take care of it, it is a collector's item.

I also have a 39M with octagon barrel. Not a matched set, but matching.
