I finally got a deer with my 35 Remington 336 RC 1966 model, using the Hornady LE 200 gr. ammo. I was pretty impressed with the performance of the bullet. I shot the deer at approx. 85 yards quartering toward me.
The bullet entered behind the right shoulder, took out the heart and part of the lung, and exited in front of the left hind quarter leaving a golf ball sized exit hole. The deer ran approx. 30 yards, but I just think that was probably involuntary muscles. There was quite a blood trail out both sides.
Here is the deer and my Marlin:
And here is my ugly mug:
I think I'm going to try the 30-30 LE in my Glenfield 30A for next season. Hopefully the bullets will be out for reloading by then.
