Marlin 336 serial Number

Registered Users do not see the above ad.

I was given a 336 RC by my father-in-law right before his death. Our area has had a lot of break-ins with gun thefts so I want to keep the information about the rifle in a safe location. However, I can't seem to find the serial number unless it is the four digit number under the lever PXXX?

Is that the serial number? Any idea of the year of manufacture? Any idea of the value?

Thanks,

Joe

P is the prefix for 1957. That is the serial number. They were under the lever until the late 60's then on the top tang after that.

As far as value, it depends on condition, but I would say in good condition $250 - $350. Less if the rifle shows a lot of wear. The older ones in good condition actually bring a little more than the newer ones. Does it have a scope?

Scope

Thanks for the information. He never put a scope on the rifle. Not really knowing how to rate a rifle for condition, I would say it is excellent. I can't find any dents or damage and the color looks good with no signs of rust.

Thanks for your help.

Joe
