I have model 336T's in both a .35 Remington and a 30-30. I stopped using the 35 Rem. years ago because the lever kept popping open. (It seem to always do it just when a deer would step out ) It seems the cartridge slips too far to the rear past the feed spring. I was wondering if this was a design defect due to the .35 Rem catridge being rimless? Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, I would welcome a solution. I would like to start using it again.

This happens alot with 336's. Order a new Plunger and Plunger spring from Numrich.com and you should be good to go. It will be $10 or so.

You might be able to clean the one you have or stretch the spring to tighten it up. give it a try. If you go to Numrich web site they have schematics to show you the parts and where they are at on the rifle to fix or change them.

Easy fix. I have had to do a couple of mine.

Numrich was out of plunger springs, but a good cleaning and lubrication seem to do the job. Thanks. I'm embarrased to say how long I put up with this problem. If I had only known it was such a simple fix!
