I may have a chance to purchase a Mod. 39 with a four digit serial number and no letters. It is my understanding the earliest have numbers, then an S was added and later and HS added. Earlier today I looked at what was for sale at Cabela's Gun libraries. The guns there were $1300. and up. I know these guns have some years on them and most of the case hardening on the receivers was gone, faded. I go to gun shows and the 39-A's are there but no Model 39s for sale. Somebody here at the forum has probably purchased them or has them. I would like to get a ball park range on what I should offer or expect to pay for this. Thanks for any help you can provide.

As I recall, my 4 digit serial numbered Mod 39 with the "S" (mfg'd in 1937) cost me all of $25 in a hock shop in Manitu Springs, Co.
