The wolf hunt is happening. The only thing hung up in courts is the use of dogs while hunting - so that is out for this season. So far there have been about 20 tags filled out of the 180 or so wolf quota.
IMO - more wolves are going to fall during gun deer season than will ever be reported during the actual wolf season they are running. The three S's apply.

Right, wrong, or indifferent....I'm sure you're correct about this.

44 total this morning. I think >60 more were killed by federal trappers and landowners this summer.

I (theoretically) have three different groups of hunting friends out west (won't mention the states or areas) and without exception, they will all kill wolves, at anytime the opportunity exist, by any means possible, whether legally or not.

Hey, that's pretty good! Is there a long season (say, to the end of the year) that ends either then, or earlier when the quota is met?
75 so far, in Idaho.

Season goes to end of Feb unless quotas are reached. They willbe closed by units, and not the etire state. One unit is 1 wolf short of the quota right now.

That's great news, Mogwai! This helps illustrate what I was saying earlier, about the good, practical folk of WI taking care of this before it becomes a huge problem. There are still nut-jobs in Madison, but there are a lot of cheese-heads who take their deer hunting seriously and won't let a wolf population get out of control to ruin it!

So it's ok with you when people violate the law? Or just the laws that YOU don't mind violated? well, dopers don't mind violating the dope laws, you know? if you want THEM bound by the law, how can it be ok for others to violate other laws, hmm?

The 'file suit groups' are at it again, trying to stop another wolf hunt in MN.
http://www.kare11.com/news/article/9...t-DNR-responds
I like this comment from the lawsuit-happy group attorney: "The state rushed to issue wolf hunting and trapping rules without giving people a real chance to voice their opinions,....". I wish they would have afforded the same weight to ID citizens' opinions when reintroduction was contemplated, and the after affects.
In other words, let opinions dictate biological decisions, not qualified game managers. It's coming to a State you're in, or near you, soon.

And it happens again. Is there a pattern here?
'The lawsuit is the latest in a seemingly endless stream of litigation....'
The lawsuit-happy envirogroups are at it again. This time, assaulting WY.
Environmentalists file suit over Wyoming wolf-kill plan

It would be worth it to get rid of the wolves, just to avoid the never-ending lawsuits!

But what would the lawyers do? Go back to divorce proceedings?!! No wolves would also dry up the enviro contributions to these self-serving 'environmental groups'. Oh yes, now I see...

Same thing is happening with timber sales on federal land. I'm not surprised, and am trying to take the long view.
We're over 100 wolves in WI, now, and another unit has been closed.
