22 1/2 years in the Air Force. My title was Ground Radio Communications Equipment Repairman but I spent most of my time in specail duty assignment, one required I complete Ranger School. Not many Air Force pukes walking around with the Ranger rocker on their BDU's. I also spent a couple of years training with the Special Forces. This was in the developement and fielding of a mobile nuclear missle system. Then I had to help develop a training program to train other Air Force members how to field, camouflage, protect and maintain the system. Basically, I spent a lot of those 22 years playing GI Joe.

I think that might be a bit too much of a question (until I write my own book about it). LOL!
What I did does not matter so much as I was there to do it voluntarily. 1st BN 5thMarines 1st div.

Army sent me to Ft. Dix after basic training in 1968 to become a radio operator. Then sent to Ft. Benning to be in the 313th Combat Engineer battalion, where I became a clerk in their S-2 section (intelligence section). Remained a clerk in S-2, assigned to 2/47th Inf. Bn, 9th Div in Vietnam and then in 100th Inf Bn, 25th Div at Schofield Barracks, Ha. S-2 work was much more interesting when in Vietnam.

USN Basic Training at Great Lakes IL - completed late 2000 (Was an old man at 29)
Air Traffic Controller “A” School at Naval Air Technical Training Center (NTTC) – completed early 2001
Transferred Atlantic Fleet Weapons Training Facility (AFWTF) at Roosevelt Roads PR, sent TAD Naval Security on base and on Vieques island from 2001 – early 2002.
Release back to AFWTF and became fully qualified at the FACSFAC Caribbean and Inner Range – was one of the last enlisted personnel to leave after decommissioning, left in late 2003.
Was given a choice of orders for Lemoore Naval Air Station Radar Approach or TACRON 11, but was pulled for special assignment overseas until injured and medically discharged 2005. I was not wounded in combat, rather fell from a forty foot watch tower fully geared up.
All-in-all I had a wonderful time, it was better than Disneyland ;-)
