New to me '92 Short Rifle.....

got my Cimarron, (Chiappa-Armi San Marco) Model '92 Short Rifle in .45 LC today....am very pleased....got it used offa GunsInternat'l for a reasonable price. Marshal, I see now why you like them, as I tore it apart, and it's dang near as nice inside as it is on the exterior..... the fit and finish rival the Miroku's.....

I did do the trigger, as it was a stiff, but sharp 5 lbs....now it a crisp 2 3/4 lbs ....

they are a bit different inside than the Rossis....they have a flat spring W/ swinging link for the hammer spring, but over all it is much cleaner inside than I though it would be....and it's a shooter.....tried it at 25 yds.....W/250 gr LazerCast cowboy rndnose flatpoints, with the 5 lb trigger and kept them all in a inch or so.....

all in all I'm a happy camper....it ain't a Miroku, but it will do jist fine.....

pix lateron.....

Wow, that gun is really beautiful...it looks incredibly authentic for being a repro!

Here in Hoosierland, more and more folks are deer hunting with guns just like that, due to the whacko regs we have. I'd carry that gun into the woods, with pride!

thanks BJ....I'really happy with it....you oughta see the inside, the machining and fit inside is amazing...I was really surprised...I had done some reading about how Cimarron had Chiappa do a better job for them, but I never expected this level of craftmanship.....

the guy I got it from said it only had about a hundred rounds thru it, so it should last me the rest of my life easily..... I got it to go with my Ruger New Vaquero, stainless, with the convertible .45 acp cylinder....now, I be ready

question: the "San Marco" confused me. I thought all Chiappa arms were made in Italy and imported thru Chiappa in Dayton Ohioh. Where was you rifle (nice looking) made?

Italy.....I read in another thread that "Armi-San Marco" went bankrupt and changed their name to "Chiappa" and are being imported by Cimarron.....

Maybe I'm confused.....but that's what I read ? here it is :

You will have to search for used ones, but look for either the EMF Hartford or Navy Arms short rifles. Both were by Rossi.

Marshall, fear not, your Armi San Marco has been resurrected. After Armi's "bankruptcy", they made a new sign, went back to work, buffed them a little more, added to the price and call them Chiappas. Honestly..."

anyhow, I feel quite lucky to have found this particular one ...

P.S. .....

If anybody is interested in the Cimarron's, they (Cimarron, I mean), did have a few left in stock, but they are quite expensive, in the neighborhood of $1100.00 .....

That hammer spring stirrup and flat hammer spring is identical to the original Browning design. Glad to hear you finally got your rifle and are happy with it. Enjoy
