I just ordered a 38 inch green mnt barrel in 40 caliber that drops right into a T/C Hawken 15/16 diameter have any of you ever tried one of these and have you got any comments of this for accuracy at different ranges? yhought id share this and get some discussion going to.

Waited forever for a .32 drop-in for my Lyman and paid WAY too much for it after their "additional charges" they didn't disclose when I ordered it. The barrel which is allegedly "air gauged" had the bore crammed full of millings and was extremely rough. Numerous attempts to get this rectified; phone, email, snail mail...still got the P.O.S. I have enough time into trying to fix this barrel than I would have if I'd had just built a new rifle with a good barrel. Still does not shoot for crap. The only good thing that came out of the GM barrel was my disgust with it led to me finding Long Hammock Barrel Co. where I get excellent quality barrels every time and I get them quickly, even totally custom ones and never any hidden "additional charges".

I have yet to see a bad Green Mountain barrel. My uncle bought a .32 cal. for his T/C and it shot great. Very smooth bore, and cleaned easy. I think it would be a good choice. The last two builds I put Green Mountain barrels on both of them.

Gismo, I'm definitely not happy with my GM barrel but what got me more was their lack of customer service...and the un-disclosed added charges. I should have stopped the payment on the credit card right away but I didn't think they would screw me over. Looked for the receipt today but couldn't find it, may have been lost in the move but I wanted to know the exact amounts. Rough estimates of what they told me when I placed the order: complete drop-in barrel $185, Shipping $15. When I finally got it like 13 months later, the bill showed they charged extra for everything that makes the drop-in barrel "complete". Pretty sure the bill was over $300 by the time they were done adding the extra's on what was being sold as a "complete drop-in barrel". When I called to question the bill and the chip plugged bore, they simply blew me off. Numerous calls, emails even snail mails and they never offered anything but excuses. I was willing to send the barrel back but they were not willing to replace or refund it.

Little FYI, GM barrels are broached, not single point cut like Long Hammock. Another thing is, you can get any twist you want from Long Hammock with no additional charges added on, anything from strait to 1:10 I think.

My green Mtn barrel is a great barrel. I am getting fantastic groups with peep sights. Mine is a stainless steel 1" barrel for a renegade w/1-28 twist. it was money WELL spent. Ron

I have three custom built round ball guns that have Green Mountain barrels: a .36 cal, a .40 cal, and a .58 cal. All three of these are very accurate, and clean as easily as any blackpowder guns I've tried.
