Normally i just shoot up in the local mountains west of cheyenne(vedauwoo area) but at the end of the month they close off the area to shooters till the end of september. Does anyone know of any good(and close by) places to shoot in or around cheyenne, wy??

It is my understanding that Cheyenne is developing a shooting range to the South of Cheyenne and that Game and Fish (or some of the personnel) were attempting to assist in the development. You might call the Cheyenne office of G&F and inquire as to how it is progressing.

The next developed range is just North of Laramie, and can be found by contacting the range. I believe the phone number is in the book. If not, try Donn Sneddon of Golden Key Realty. I believe he is still one of the officers.

There is a goodly amount of public land near Vedevoo that is found to the North and East of that area that is not subject to the closure, if I am not mistaken. Check with the Forest Service in Laramie, as they are the ones doing the closure.

there is also a range run by cowboy action i think on the otto road about ten miles out the range in Laramie is north of town about five miles on ninth street

The Horse creek highway is the road that parralles happy jack (wyo 210) about 10 miles to the north the horse creek highway is also know as highway 211. I think it is exit 16 on I-25. I beleive Bill is listed in the Cheyenne phone book and he can give you information on membership and directions. There also is a indoor range by the refinery off of Nationway Bill can give you info on it too. Are you new to cheyenne?

I have little interest in going north or east of cheyenne...just doesnt seem to have much to offer i guess! But im not new to the area, just new to shooting here. Ive done all my shooting so far in the vedauwoo area, but i dont really like going out there all that much becuase it always seems like theres too many people around and its too open of an area. I was really looking for a shooting range, or somewhere in town or at least close by to shoot.

Ya jeffro the place on the horse creek is a shooting range and the one on the otto road is too. They both have berms and and backstops. The police have a range east on Del Range right by sapp brothers truck stop. Call the Cheyenne police to get info on public access.

There is a very nice shooting range on otto rd. web site is Otto Road Shooting Range check it out membership is open for $75.00 per year . open 7 days a week sunrise TO sunset.

I'll top this 04 thread off by saying that Jackson Hole has one of the finest shooting ranges (over 600 yards) in the entire state. A real nice place to go and visit, take along your shotgun for the clay birds too.
