At the gunrange this morning doing some social shooting. Had the 7RM grouping great and the .308W trying to.

Look at the target frame at 100 yds through the spotting scope and see movement over the berm and out to about 250 yds. - a big bodied muley 3 pt buck! He's walking along unconcerned with all the banging and clanging on the range. Pointed it out to the Chief Range Officer and he calls an immediate "Cease Fire and step away from the benches!"

Every one backs off from the benches wondering who shot who and the announcement is made about the buck in the line of fire. We watch as he moseys to the end of the line, stops and looks at us, then swaps ends and heads back the way he came. Never in a hurry. Figure the sudden quiet must have made him nervous (being used to all the banging normally going on) and he decided to go back home.

When he finally got out of the line of fire, commenced shooting again. Several of the shooters were laughing and talking of taking home venison. Had to break the sad news that season is over in this area and that the range land belongs to the Arizona Game & Fish, which allows absolutely NO shooting of wildlife of any kind (even packrats and rattlesnakes) on the property.

Nice buck, though.
