Minneapolis area Shooting 600 BR

Registered Users do not see the above ad.

I had a couple general questions. First I was wondering if there is anywhere in the Minneapolis/ Twin Cities area where you can go and shoot 300-600 yard range without taking out a loan to join a club. Just moved here several months ago and I was spoiled before. There they had cement benches, 25, 50, 100, 200 yard, and 300 and 500 meter ranges, with covered shelters for the benches. All for $10.00 a year membership, ouch!

Second question, I am thinking about going out and shooting in a 600 yard BR competition, but I have no idea how to go about getting involved, and if they hold any shoots around here. I know they do some in South Dakota, which I wouldn't mind going to. Most of the Bench Rest Shooting organizations online have sketchy information as to how to get involved. I have a fully custom target rifle to shoot it, just need a few odd ball things, so i'm not too worried there, just need to know where do I start?

any info would be appreciated, thanks

The only truly long range gun club I know of fairly close to the Twin Cities is the Gopher Rifle and Revolver Gun Club that has a 1000 yard range in Harris. I belonged to it years ago but the drive there from my house is about an hour and joined one that is closer....
The club does have their meetings in the Twin Cities Metro though....look it up on the internet...

Oakdale

I shoot at Oakdale and I am not a member. You do not need to be a member. It's $ 15/day/person all day as many guns as you want. They have a 200 yd range. It is well run.

I think there is a place up St Cloud way which has a 300 yder, but I have not been there. It might be the one that is listed as Waite Park.

Good Luck

Gopher Rifle & Revolver (GRRC.org) will have over 226 scheduled events this year that are open to the public. Everything from bowling pin pistol to 1000 yard bench rest. Early in the spring they hold a 2 day service rifle clinic, and you can shoot even if you don't have a rifle. Look at the web site and use the contact us button.

Thanks for the reply, I'll look into it as we get closer to warmer days!
