Wife flew out this morning to visit with daughter in Sacramento, Ca. - right into torrential rains and high winds. She could have stayed here and enjoyed balmy 75 deg, bright sun and no wind.

I dumped 1.5" out of the rain gauge on Friday, 0.5" today. What is coming in tomorrow looks significant with the West coast down to mid-CA all green on the radar. Our mountains are supposed to get 2-5 ft of snow.
A friend had a late muley buck tag in S ID on the NV border. From the pics, he got a nice 28" 4x4 on Thursday. Glad he did; Friday was the last day and the weather would have had everything hunkered down.

Hey fellas!
It's been seasonal here, 30's and 40's.....
No snow in sight, as today it's supposed to be close to 60.

Shawn, we could use some of that rain really bad. Back in a extreme drought again and two more record high's today, and saying at least another day of records again tomorrow. They were talking about the two different computer models they use for the forecast and even both of those are at opposite ends, one is saying a weather cold front with snow and the other is predicting more spring like weather, LOL.

Wish we could send weather at-will, fred, but we needed it too! I dumped another 1"+ out of the rain gauge today. Our ground isn't frozen yet, so we got a good soakin'-in.
I finally got around to cleaning my Win mod 70 30-06 Fwt after hunting season today. Only 1.5 months late, but it was fine!

Well, Shawn - that's a sure sign the season is over, when the rifle gets cleaned! Darn it!

Up until today the last time we had temps in the 80's 3 days in a row in December was 1908, but we did it these last three days. The lows have been 20-30 degree's above normal also.

We got 6"-8" here! People are already snowmobiling above 7000 ft elevation, where some locations have gotten over 5 ft. We're getting there!

We got a good foot of snow starting last night and it's still snowing.
There were some elk in the yard night before last keeping me awake with their "singing". I didn't mind it too much though.

Got another 3-4 inches last night and the elk had moved back in a cross the road. I didn't notice them until I was well under was playing with my "new" snow blower. Evidently a 17 hp lawn tractor sounds a lot like a 4wheeler so the elk left before I could get the camera.

The thermom read -11F this morning, so not quite that bad; probably -6F. Of all times, my GFA (gas forced-air furnace) decided not to fire at sometime in the night, and 53F in the house this morning, and that was with the wood stove burning. The wood stove won't keep up with the heat loss in weather like this, unless it gets stoked every two hours and isn't damped down, and that doesn't make for good sleeping. The GFA is now fixed.
To top it off, there was a cougar (mtn lion, not the single moms!) sighting on the elementary school grounds in town yesterday. May have to get out after that!
