The last time I heard anything on this was as you stated no season,no limit, but check with wastington state fish and game to be sure, and to get up to date info. Good hunting.

I hate ro rain on your pig hunt but according to the regional WDFW office in Monte there hasn't been a pig killed in that area in over two years. The do say that there are a few free rannging hogs between 101 and Wynoochee dam. I have tried for a pig several times in that area without even seeing fresh sign. Most of the publicity came about three years ago when the hogs multiplied enough to enter the lower Wynochee vally and drew attention to there existance. It is a fun area to poke around in. If you don't see hogs to shoot you can run into deer and elk to look at.

Dean, thanks for the heads-up. I'm just a steelheader looking for some hunting while the rivers are blown out. If I'm up some creek fishing the pocket water, I'll be packing my S&W 41 mag. with stout hog/Meth-head loads...41

I was up north of aberdeen on 101 on st patty's day... I talked to a guy that drives logging truck and works in the woods and hunted the area around donkie creek road. he said he had never seen a hog in that area or heared of anyone shooting one there but he did point me to an area just a little way up the road from there where he has heared of people shooting them and he says he has seen pictures of hogs that were shot up by the wynoochie ****. alot of the roads up by the **** have gates and such on them don't they? is it leagle to be in that area? I would love to find an area up there with hogs....

It is legal to be around the dam. In fact there are two campgrounds on the lake. While some gates are locked a lot are open. Others are closed for part of the year. I have been in that area a lot and have never seen a hog. I have heard that the area south of the dam, near the old Grisdale logging camp site, has produced the occasional pig. However, I have not heard of any pigs being taken in the area in the past few years.

Hey 41rem,

This is a bit off the subject but since you mentioned your S&W .41 mag I wanted to ask you what you are using for loads.

I was able to buy a used S&W .41 mag just two days before returning to Romania for a three month stint and was only able to fire a box of factory loads the day before I left. I like very much what it was able to do with those, but as a reloader I am looking for advice on bullets, powder and accurate velocities.

Any advice would be appreciated,

Fletch

Fletch, I like my hunting 41 mag loads pretty hot. Love to use the Remington brass for all my loads... I'm shooting a hardcast gas checked 250 gr. bullet over a charge of 18.0 grs of Lil'Gun & a Rem. 2 1/2 cap gives me about 1200+ fps out of my 4"er. put a good roll crimp in the groove these really kick & will blow thru about anything I care to shoot at! I also like a 41 spl. load.... take that 41 mag case and trim it down 1/8" put in 7.5 grs of Unique top it off with a Speer 200 gr. 1/2 jacket HP be sure to do a light crimp just into the lead part of the bullet past the 1/2 jacket and add another Rem. 2 1/2 primer...it will give you a low recoiling, low flash load of about 900-1000 fps and a very quick opening bullet for smaller stuff, or when you don't want that bullet to drive too deep...go get em

Troggy
I was told that there were some pigs east near Umatilla area and that there were no licenses required, but it was on a lot of private land. Check with ODF&W they could tell you
