any info on nitrex or weaver scopes?

Registered Users do not see the above ad.

I have been looking at two scopes im very intrested a nitrex tr one 6-20x50 with a balastic-x recticle and a weaver classic v 6-24x42 with a .223 balastic x recticle. Both scopes are in my price range and I know weaver was making nitrex but im not sure now.

Im just looking for some info from someone who owns one or both or knows something about the brands even. the nitrex is about 60 more but both are in my price range. Im really intrested in the weaver the most because this scope is going to be put on a .223 varmint rifle. I want to put custom target turrets on either scope when I have a good load worked up so i would like a scope that has a solid click and holds zero well.

I dont want to spend that kind of money and get junk so any info is appreciated. thanks

I just put a new weaver V series with the .223 reticle on my .223. It is not the 6-24 but the 4-16. I am somewhat dissapointed in it. From looking at weaver's literature, it had appeared as though the comensating reticule were horizontal lines, when in fact they are dots similar to a mil-dot, plus the center of the crosshair is a dot. The dot in itself is OK, but the weaver dot is pretty large. The whole setup is pretty annoying. I have two other varmint scopes that I do like very much, a Mueller Tactical 4-16 and a Swift Premier 6-18, both with mil-dots. Both have been very dependable through the years and give a good sight picture on prairie dogs out to 400 yards or so. The weaver is dissapointing.

well im sorry to hear that. I know what I wont be buying now. I dont want a large dot in the middle that is for sure. I want fine crosshairs. Wouldnt happen to know anything about the nitrex scopes would you? Thats my second option but im wondering about thoose now also since weaver was making them. its show thoose scopes in the diagrams to have small crosshatch marks for the compensation on the bottom vertical line. but it also showed that on the weaver as you have stated. I think im going to email nitrex if i cant get any other information.
