Scope for Mossberg 702 plinkster

Registered Users do not see the above ad.

I'm looking for a good Scope 4 Power or bigger if it will fit a new Mossberg 702. I am not interested in Plastic or or Toy Scopes, but a serious Optic for a decent price not to exceed $ 50.00. Will be used for plinking and Varmint control.
can anyone help?

Welcome to the board, to start with.

You pose a conundrum to start with. You say a decent scope, but don't want to pay more than $50 for it. That will take a bit of internet searching. The only fixed power scopes I'm personally aware of will cost a few more dollars than that. Maybe someone else has a better line on them.

Scope for Mossberg 702 plinkster

kdub: thanks for your reply. I'm glad you agree that it will take some internet searching to find a decent Scope for that price. The Reviews I have read about some of these cheaper ones are very negative, but surely, someone makes a good quality Scope for .22 Rifles for a cheaper price. I just do not see any reason to mount a expensive scope on a $ 100 Rifle, which is of marginal Quality and is used for other then serious hunting.

It's doubtful. The materials and means to build a quality scope don't change for the most part based on intended use.

A cheap scope won't hold zero and will probably give you eyestrain.

A hundred bucks ought to buy a decent used scope. I'd suggest hitting the gun shows. Good luck.

I agree with all that's been said thus far. You might do well to search for close-out of name brand products looking to up-grade a line-up, etc.

This scope (2-7x32) may be as good as it gets at a Benjamin and you'd have a scope capable of a lifetime of usage and good enough to also slide onto a larger caliber rifle or any higher $$ rimfire you may see in your future. I've owned five of these scopes, have one of them mounted on my 10/.22 and it is a fine choice for rimfire or centerfire. (Parallax is set at 75 yds)

i have a HENRY .22 mag. equipped with the NIKON PRO-STAFF RIMFIRE 4X and for $100 i would highly recommend it. I know it states $50 , but you double that and you get way more than twice the scope. Just my opinion.
